The XD Series provides Jeep enthusiasts with quality and cool looking wheels at an affordable price!

I see the KMC XD Series rims all over the place and have used them myself. They are stylish wheels that thousands of Jeep and Truck owners have used to get a little more ‘wow’ factor out of their vehicle!

These rims have a large variety in sizing options from larger diameter to wider or narrower. Between the sizing options and the mid-range affordable price these rims take first on my list. Beating out the others on this list like Pro Comp, or other big brands like mickey thompson whose tires I really like!

The Grenade series rims come with a hub-centric ring that ensures the rims are directly over the axle reducing any kind of vibration and reducing road noise.

I am very impressed with these on my Wrangler JK, taking a beating off road showcasing the heavy duty quality I was promised!

If you haven’t given them a shot yet, I recommend going out and buying yourself some kmc wheels to finish off the look of your ride.

2. Asanti AB813 Cleaver Series (Best For Jeep Wrangler 07+)

Asanti AB813 Cleaver Series
9.8/10 Our Score
  • Unique Look
  • Fits Only New Style Jeep Wranglers
  • Available in 20" or 22" Sizes
  • Titanium Brushed Spokes
  • Cast-Aluminum
  • Luxurious Quality Wheels!
  • More Expensive than Counterparts
  • Not Available in Smaller Sizes

The Cleaver series delivers unique wheels that will make your 4×4 stand out from the rest!

Looking for a wheel that will make most jeeps very memorable? Instead of looking in between all the black finishes on wheels, put on a trend-setting wheel style that really catches the eye! The titanium brushed style will turn heads and make others take a second glance to check them out.

Asanti prides itself on a very well-designed and constructed product and we can see the proof in these wheels! They are able to run off road but not with anything too aggressive or tough to get through. The sidewall is much smaller with a larger wheel which increases its chances to get damaged in any off road situation.

They do unfortunately only fit the new style of Jeep wranglers and do not have any smaller sizes than 20″ which makes these wheels less valuable for serious off-road use but more acquainted with your day-to-day driving which is what you will spend most of your time doing with it!

These run a little more expensive than a large portion of the wheels on the market. The craftsmanship more than makes up for the extra cost though.

The Black Rhino wheels have kept the classic Jeep look alive, enhancing your old TJ’s look!

Black Rhino wheels are dominant in the old style Jeep Wrangler world. They make great-looking wheels that help keep that classic jeep look! I am partial to these since I put some on my own 2-Door Jeep a while back. They are affordable for aluminum wheels and have plenty of sizing options that I appreciated! Getting a couple of sets of these, one at the factory 16″ and another at the 20″ for a larger wheel look!

The lack of spokes provides an easy maintenance wheel that will take no time to clean and keep clean!

If you are looking for long-lasting tires that are also affordable to match these wheels, check out my post where I share my top Jeep tire picks! I appreciate how simple the design is on these wheels with the semi gloss black finish and five large spokes. It helps fill out the classic look of a Jeep!

And for the casual enthusiast that mainly sticks to the pavement but wants a cool stock look to their Jeep, these are the perfect upgrade from the OE rims!

Rugged Ridge Trail Runner
6.6/10 Our Score
  • Hub-Centric Design
  • Cheaper than Aluminum Wheels
  • Gloss Black Finish
  • 5 x 5 Bolt Pattern
  • Engineered for SAE J2530 Standards
  • Tough Wheels For Running Trails
  • Heavier than Aluminum Counterparts
  • Plain Design

Trail Runners are great for weekend warriors looking for a cheap alternative wheel that performs well and doesn’t sacrifice style

More often than not I am talking to other Jeep enthusiasts that want to modify their rig but don’t want to break the bank. These Trail Runners by Rugged Ridge are a fantastic choice of rims to replace the OE style and get an upgrade. They aren’t costly like the majority of the popular wheels that are mainly aluminum constructed.

This steel wheel is a multi piece hub-centric design that ensures the wheel is dead center on the axle to eliminate any road vibration often felt on non-hub-centric designs. This design also holds up to the rigorous testing that wheels are put through to make sure they are road worthy and safe to put on your ride.

Running a gloss black finish that will give your 4×4 character and help it stand out next time you go shopping or are out for a family meal!

If finding a set of wheels with superior build quality at a great price even if they have a more plain jane look, then these are the right wheels for your Jeep!

Besides, who cares what your wheels look like when they are two feet deep in the mud?

  • High Offset Brake Clearance
  • Not Available on Older Models

Pro Comp 74s provide the best durability and have a lightweight design that can’t be beat!

The Pro Comp 74 Series has a great look that I have seen on many Wranglers with a 2 to 2.5″ lift kit. They will fit just fine with the factory rubber, but look killer with a set of 33s or 35s on it! The price of Jeep tires is starting to creep up each year, but these wheels stay at an affordable price that allows new enthusiasts to get into and customize off-road vehicles!

The bolt pattern on these wheels is 5 on 5 which is usable on the 2007 and newer Wrangler models. And the ability to pick up either a 17″ or 20″ wheel for your Jeep gives some options on the type of rubber and driving you will be doing with it!

Cast-Aluminum has great durability while also lending a ton of strength to the vehicle. Being able to take a beating without damage, these would be a great off road choice as well!

If you are looking for a high-quality rim from a reputable wheel dealer, Pro Comp has your back. So long as the wheel isn’t damaged because of misuse, neglect or vandalism they will replace it!

7. Black Rhino Shredder Series Wheels (Most Unique Look)

Black Rhino Shredder Series Wheels
9.1/10 Our Score
  • Aggressive Looking Wheels
  • 5-Year Structure / 2-Year Finish Warranties
  • Angular Concave Look
  • Several Coloring Options
  • Made With Cast-Aluminum
  • Can Purchase for Both New and Old Jeep Styles
  • Brass Lug Nuts Detract from Black Out Look
  • Hard To Maintain Polished Look

The Shredder series is BADASS and gives an aggressive stance that other rims can’t match!

I love a bad-ass-looking Jeep like it’s out of a Mad Max movie! These wheels make me think of aggressive racing on the dunes with no cares at all. The angular twisted spoke design is so unique and eye-catching, that it won’t matter if you are rocking a new Gladiator or an old beat-up TJ. When these pass someone by they will be rubbernecking like crazy!

If you don’t like the initial coloring there are a couple of options you can get them in. Either the matte black with machined dark tint wheel finish. Or you can get a matte gunmetal black lip edge design for a more uniform design.

What’s even better is these are covered under a 5-year conditional warranty that provides some peace of mind when trying to take care of these stellar looking wheels.

There is nothing worse than spending your hard-earned cash on your hobby just to see it break or not last as long as you hoped!

Don’t worry though, these lightweight rims are very durable and shouldn’t have any issues holding up while you are crushing it offroad somewhere!

8. Method Race Wheels 105 Beadlock (Best Bead-Locked Wheels)

Method Race Wheels 105 Beadlock
6.1/10 Our Score
  • Bead Locked Wheels
  • Top Quality Off-Road Racing Wheel
  • 5 on 5 Bolt Pattern
  • 17x9 Wheel Sizing
  • Stand Out Center Caps
  • Blacked Out Design
  • Harder To Install
  • More Costly Than Similar Wheels

The Race Wheels will ensure your tire stays on the bead while ripping down the off road track ahead of your competition!

A lot of the time when people look at off-roading they imagine jeeps with HUGE tires trying to climb vertical grades or bogging through a stream that has the machine basically sunk. A part that doesn’t get as much love or screen time is the off-road racing scene!

These Method Race Wheels provide unmatchable stability to the tire that allows for fast, sharp turning on slippery gravel and dirt tracks. The Beadlock keeps the tires secured to the rims while hitting big potholes and taking any jumps on the course.

These wheels are light, keeping little weight on the axles unlike a steel rim, and allowing your 4×4 to keep constant power to the axles without trouble. They are only 17″ in diameter which allows space for a larger sidewall which you will want when hitting the trail hard. It is also only fitted for the 07 and newer models of Jeep Wranglers.

The blacked-out multi spoke design adds a ton of class and style to your Jeep. Also, did you take a look at the center caps? Those are COOL.

9. Fuel Offroad D546 Assault Wheel 18x9 (Best For Off-Road)

Fuel Offroad Assault Wheel
8.9/10 Our Score
  • Changes Factory to a cool Angry look
  • 18:9 is perfect for on and off-road conditions
  • Used for both old and new style bolt patterns
  • Blacked Out Look
  • Lightweight aluminum
  • Fuel Product Warranty
  • Can be expensive
  • Not for Intense Off-Road Use

Fuel Offroads fit all Jeep models and provide top notch off road capabilities that your 4×4 deserves.

If you have been in the Jeep scene for a while, you’ll have seen a few sets of these on Jeeps of all ages. Fuel makes a damn good product and they back it up with a solid warranty. That’s something Jeep owners need when they are planning on taking the rig into the bush to play around.

The bolt pattern on this wheel is 5 on 4.5 and 5 on 5. That means it fits both the old and new styles of Wranglers which is very handy for resale value and if you have multiple styles of Jeep.

Set at a rim diameter of 18″, these assault wheels give you a great on-pavement ride while giving you a reasonable off-road ride. Not being too large, this size allows for a stronger side wall (by letting out some air in the tires) to prevent your tires from getting damaged while out bogging. Once you have these on you need mud tires to maximize their capabilities!

The lightweight aluminum material reduces the weight of the axles keeping full power at the wheels for your jeep!

The blacked-out spoke design lends an aggressive look that improves the look of your rig over the factory rims by a landslide!

How To Choose Your New Jeep Rims

Steel Wheels VS Aluminum

A couple things stick out in this comparison

  • Steel is cheaper than Aluminum
  • Steel is heavier than Aluminum

If you are looking for a cheap wheel and just want to get out of the factory rims, then steel is a great choice.

Aluminum is lighter, keeping weight off the axles and allowing for more power to get to the wheels faster.

Most of the time Jeep owners will start with steel until they find the aluminum wheels that they want.

Bolt Pattern

Wranglers have two different bolt patterns

  • 86-06 is a 5 x 45″ or 5 x 114.3mm
  • 07+ is a 5 x 5 or 5 x 127mm

The Width

Stock Jeep Rims are 7.5″ wide. Most of these options are 9″ or a bit wider which most likely require a slight lift. 2 – 2.5″ is very common on most Wranglers and will give enough room for the bigger rims and tires.

Backspacing

The backspacing is the distance the tires and rims need to accommodate both the offset and wheel width which is very important when the new package is wider than your factory set up.

This number is included on all manufacturer wheel descriptions.

The Wheels Offset

Wheel offset is the distance from the center hub and the middle of the wheel. A neutral means it’s in the center. Negative offset means it is further into the wheel and has a deep dish look. A positive offset is the opposite of this.

Depending on your configuration, your Jeep offset may need to be more positive if you are too close to the body and fenders or more negative if the tires are too close to the suspension components.

FAQ

What kind of rims are better for a Jeep Wrangler?

Ultimately, both steel and aluminum wheels are great for a Jeep Wrangler.

But aluminum wheels being lighter and very durable will be better for power and fuel economy over the long haul.

What is the best rim size for a Jeep?

This is dependent on what you are wanting to do with your Jeep.

If you are doing more intense off roading, a smaller rim size with a larger sidewall is what you will want to go with.

If you mainly use your Jeep from commuting, then I would recommend a larger wheel size for better on pavement traction and usability.

Are all Jeep rims the same?

No, different manufacturers’ build quality varies greatly! From the way they cast their materials and the actual materials used in the first place!

What size are stock Jeep rims?

There is no single stock Jeep rim size. In 2022 alone, there are 10 different stock wheel sizes depending on trim level.

Summing It Up

There is a lot to take into account when considering new rims; change of offset and backspacing, what the factory trim was set up for and what you plan on using your Jeep for!

Again, if you are having a hard time choosing but want to make a decision I highly recommend the KMC HD series wheels being my top choice for a new ride!
